This is an aesthetic procedure that is regularly performed in our clinic, and the results we achieve are very successful. Chin liposuction is a procedure that is quite popular, regardless of the age, as we have many younger patients, as well as older, coming to our clinic for this procedure.

Chin liposuction is performed equally on men and on women, and the extent of the operation depends on the individual situation and appearance of the chin. Quite often, our patients are looking for a minimal chin correction, which gives a better shape of the neck and younger, fresher appearance. This procedure is also very efficient method at patients whose chin is quite noticeable. In such cases, we remove a larger amount of the fatty tissue, so the result of the operation is very noticeable, and the improvement is indeed significant.

This type of liposuction is performed in our clinic following the hydro liposuction principle, in order to extract the necessary amount of fatty tissue in a more precise, safe and easier way.

Chin liposuction procedure requires surgeon’s sense of proportion and shaping, as this operation is performed on a quite small and limited area, where even the slightest changes are very noticeable. The purpose of this procedure is to treat the chin and neck area as smoothly as possible, without leaving the uneven spots or ‘holes’.

For chin liposuction we only use extremely thin cannulae. This requires a very skilled cosmetic surgeon whose technique of using thin cannulae is flawless.

This procedure comprises 3-4 mm long incisions on each side, which are hidden by the back of the lower jaw, and one 3-4mm long incision right under the chin. The incisions are tactfully placed and made, so facial anatomical structures hide them, which make them unnoticeable after the operation.

Chin liposuction can be performed as a separate cosmetic surgery treatment, or combined with some other aesthetic procedures, especially with face lift, as in this combination, chin liposuction is an excellent additional method to make the neck look perfect.

Chin liposuction can be combined with other aesthetic surgery procedures, such as aesthetic nose correction, breast enlargement, etc.

Depending on the extent of the procedure, i.e. the amount of the fatty tissue, chin liposuction can be performed under enhanced local or general anesthesia.

USEFUL INSTRUCTIONS FOR OUR PATIENTS:

Although cosmetic eyelid surgery is preformed regularly in our clinic, the professionalism of our surgical team headed by Dr Toncic makes us pay special attention to the preoperative preparation of our patient.

Prior to the operation – patient’s preparation:

• Prior to the chin liposuction operation, the patient goes through a routine preoperative analysis, which comprises a blood test analysis, and if performed under general anesthesia, the internal specialist examination with ECG is scheduled too.
• We have a special arrangement with our foreign patients. Prior to the operation and preoperative examination, we hold consultation through emails, photos and by phone. This way, our surgeons get a deeper insight into the individual case, according to which they can estimate whether the patient is a suitable candidate for the desired operation. This procedure allows our patient to come to Zagreb for the operation one time only. When our patient arrives, we hold final preoperative consultation and medical examination, where we discuss the details of the operation together with the patient. After the consultation, we perform the surgery.
• To ensure the success of the chin liposuction surgery, during the final preoperative examination, the surgeon makes a detailed and precise drawing on the chin and neck area. This is the point where Dr Toncic’s artistic experience and meticulousness are best shown. The drawing itself is an important orientation factor for the surgeon during the surgery, and as such it represents quite a big step on the way to the final success of the operation.
• Before the operation, in our correspondence and detailed conversation, we instruct our patients to discontinue painkillers and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, containing acetylsalicylic acid like Aspirin, Andol or Acisal. This is very important factor in patient’s preparation for the surgery, as this way we prevent possible bleeding and haematoma during and after the procedure. Following this instruction makes the recovery quicker and more successful, and the result of the operation is improved.

Anesthesia and the procedure:

• Depending on the extent of the procedure, i.e. the amount of the fatty tissue, chin liposuction can be performed under enhanced local or general anesthesia. The surgery is painless and the patient is asleep during the operation.
• The patient stays in the clinic for 6 hours. It takes about an hour for preoperative preparations, and around one and a half hours for the operation itself after which the patient rests. Once discharged from the surgery the patient is sent to home care.

Postoperative period and recovery:

• The final result of the operation depends on the course of the operation, the experience of the surgeon and his team, but to a significant extent, it also depends on conscientious and detailed postoperative monitoring and control.
• To be sure of the success of the operation and wellbeing of the patient, Dr Toncic and his team insist on regular check ups and everyday contact with the patient.
• For our patients’ safety, successful recovery and postoperative monitoring, we recommend optimal length of stay in Zagreb. This way, we leave nothing to chance. We monitor our patient’s recovery completely, which is crucial for our patient’s health and the result of the operation.
• Postoperative recovery after facelift is individual, usually lasting around 7 days after the operation. The stitches are removed 7 days after the surgery, and our patients can resume their personal and professional activities.
• In order to have the least noticeable scar possible, it would be best to avoid sun exposure for six to twelve months after the operation.

Required stay in Zagreb:

• Required stay in Zagreb is minimum 3 days, but we always recommend 7 days, so we can remove the stitches on the 7th day, and monitor the early postoperative period completely. We indeed require that our patients stay in Zagreb for the optimal time, as this period is crucial for the result of the operation.
• Sick leave lasts 7 days for cosmetic eyelid surgery. 7 days following the operation, we remove the stitches and the patient can resume her or his personal and professional activities.
