Sagging
facial skin can be dealt with by chemical peel. In these cases it is also recommended
that the patient consider a face and neck lift. As
shown in the photos, chemical peel gives a youthful look to the face. This is
the most successful method of smoothing facial furrows and the rejuvenation effect
lasts. Chemical peel is a procedure whereby chemical agents are used to remove
the superficial skin layer. The target effect of the chemical peel is rejuvenation.
This is the only procedure in which chemical agents are used. While penetrating
deep into the skin layers and removing furrows, chemicals also incite the skin
to produce its own collagen. Because of that, the rejuvenation effect is long
lasting. During skin treatment by mechanical abrasion or laser dermabrasion, the
skin does not produce its own collagen. So
far, in the institutions for aesthetic surgery and dermatology, Baker's formula
has been mostly used because its effectiveness. Baker's formula is based on the
combination of different concentrations of phenol and croton oil. In
the last 5 years, Dr. Hetter has made extensive studies, based on a number of
patients. By changing the concentration of the main ingredients of Baker's formula,
he has developed his own formula for chemical peel procedures which gives much
better results but uses lower concentrations of the main ingredients, resulting
in a shorter recovery period. There are several advantages in applying Hetter's
formula for chemical peel, rather than Baker's: -
better, more efficient peel
-
safety and precision in application reduces side affects to a minimum
-
recovery is quicker
Chemical
peel with Hetter's formula allows for stricter control of the dosage of peeling
agents, applied to the facial area. This gives an improved effect and a shorter
recovery period. Because the concentrations of the main ingredients are strictly
regulated, an additional advantage of this procedure over laser peel is that there
is no danger of permanent discolor to the skin or long lasting redness on the
face, which can happen in laser treatments. Chemical peel, done with Hetter's
formula, incites skin to produce its own collagen. Due
to the extraordinary results achieved by this method, popularity of chemical peel
as a method for removing facial furrows has increased in the USA. I
have been using Hetter's formula for chemical peel treatment since the formula
was published in medical literature and I am very satisfied with the quality,
precision and results. We
can see on the first photo how Dr. Hetter divided a face into 3 regions, according
to the thickness and sensitivity of the skin. Each region is treated with a different
concentration of chemical agent. That is why region 3, around the eyes (thin and
sensitive skin) is treated with the lowest concentration of phenol and croton
oil. As
a procedure, chemical peel can also be successfully combined with a facelift. Lifts
serve to tighten the skin and subcutaneous structures on the face and neck. After
a successful facelift, the face gains firm contours and a youthful appearance.
Chemical peel is used to remove small furrows that are in the skin structure and
cannot be removed by the facelift. The rejuvenation effect of a face lift is enhanced
by the chemical peel procedure. Chemical
peel is done under local anesthetic and is painless.
PRACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PATIENT
-
The stay in Zagreb (for those who are not from Zagreb) depends on individual reactions
and recovery can take 3 to 7 days
- A
treated area (face) must not be exposed to direct sun light for 3-6 months.
The price of a chemical peel treatment in our surgery is 1200 EUR. Patients stay in our surgery for several hours (the time necessary for the preparation, operation and a short rest afterwards) and then the patient is sent to home care. Surgeon`s
